It's interesting to talk with the driver, if the driving job is his second career in his life. The one I met worked for a manufacturing firm before, he decided to drive a cab to earn a living instead of being a manager on production line, because he weren't willing to be assign to work in Mainland China by his boss.

The migration of manufacturing industries in Taiwan to China seems to be a ordinary thing these years, I always heared from the business managers I met, and it have been published frequently on newspapers and manazines. People who used to make profits by reducing the production cost are always seeking the more lower expense from the whole production process, and the labor cost and land cost always contribute more than other costs. It's not too difficult for understanding the phenomenon in manufacturing industries. The driver was one of the sufferers in the structural unemployment.

It calls for deep thought from his experiences of business trip to the firm operating in China, he told me that the people in China is very smart and enjoy contending for personal gain, because they are afraid of shortage in their living for a long time. He was also impressed by the expressiveness of the people, they could confuse right and wrong, if they want to. The management came from Taiwan are easy to be replaced by local people, because they are accustomed to use the tactic of "divide and conquer" to acquire the authority, it's easy to be observed, but not easy to stand still without eroding the foundation of trust between the members of management team, which was always composed of people from Taiwan originally.

The Playwright with Pessimistic Spirit

As one of Ellie's friends, I am lucky to be her colleague at the same project team, I observed many different behaviors from me by her nature, and to know her way to recognize a specific event by exchanging views between us. The things happened to us make me expand my vision to understand the world, and feel more interesting to deal with the daily jobs.

Ellie described my personality by comparing with her and with another colleage-Jack, she said that I was a man with idealism, I alway tried to make things done by following the justice they shoud be. Jack played a role of gatekeeper in our project team, he was considerate of every details to avoid any carelessness, as Ellie's description. About Ellie herslef, she said that she was a pessimist, she always looked at the deficiencies in the tasks assigned, and thought that the tasks were mission impossible. As my opinion, I think she always tried to do the tasks to perfection, that was the highest standard to measure the outcomes for the tasks. The funny thing is that we begin to predict the scenario going when we start to do the new task according our three characters, and watch what will happen in the near future.

Ellie was a reportor a few years ago, so that she is good at telling a story, describing a event, and making a conclusion. I had told her that I build up a blog which entitled "Industry Analysis",the blog also hosted by Blogger, for the beginner. I wish the blog could help me to save time for answering the same questions by different friends. A few days later, she went to my blog to see what I wrote on the webpages, she was somewhat agree with my intention of the blog, but said that maybe the one who saw my blog will ask me to explain the concepts and methodologies for him in chinese, because I wrote it in english. It's one of the cases for Ellie's pessimism, it's a "cold joke" for me, but with possibility. ^^

YuSan - Majored in Art at U. of Wiscosin-Madison

YuSan is a friend of mine, since I was a college student. We both joined the same interest group in campus, we published the news paper and magazine to report the events and thoughts concerning the college life for the members of the college at that time. She looks like a shy girl, but truth is that she is content with things as they are, and try to be a easy person.

I met her a few monthes ago, we talked about her artistic creation for her graduation project at U. of Wiscosin-Madison. She said that she still have many copies in her dwelling house, and tried to make the copies being a good end. The Internet maybe is a good solution for finding the people who like her works, I guess. That's the reason why I posted the series of Troll in my blog. You could contact with me, if you are interested in the creation by YuSan and try to buy a copy of her series works. The series of Troll consists six small stories, every story has its own implied meaning with simple sentences and pictures.

See you.

Troll Has Big Feet

<img style="BORDER-RIGHT: #000000 1px solid; My friend, Doris remind me of the term by her funny story.

She told me that her three friends had a chat on MSN messesger, talking about a girl they all knew before, They can't believe that the girl has favorable impression on them and try to keep in touch with them one by one at the net meeting. Maybe the three male were right for their conception, but interesting point is that they can hardly to ask the key person in this situation. If they do, I guess the answer won't be as simple as "Yes" is. Maybe the girl think that the three male all stuck on her, she just show her goodness to them. That will be another Rashomon-like story.

The funny story also recalled my memory, there was another story for the different situation. I have three friends, John, Tom and Carl, they knew a girl-Ellie on the party, Ellie is a cute and beautifule girl. She made John display great ardor for Ellie, he made chances for him to meet with Ellie, picked her up to go home, and he aslo give tulips to her for his earnest. Tom and Carl always play roles of walking part in John's scenario, they enjoy to be the facilitators for John, and try to make John happy. unfortunately, Ellie seems to recognize John as a friend, not her mate.

Tom worked for the same company as Ellie, Ellie walked by and chatted with him frequently in the mean time, Tom was wondering whether Ellie like him or not? He know John is fond of Eliie, and so he didn't involve in the whirlpool of John's loving story, but personally witness the whole event. Carl is the one who was Ellie's favorate person, but he coundn't make a decision to accept Ellie's love, because he was not ready for being in love with anyone, besides, he made sure that friend is forever, but girl is everywhere.

The similiar scenario repeatly performed among the four person, because they all play the role who they want to be, then there woundn't be any thing new for the coming days. It's happen that I am the friend of the three guys, so I acquired the enough information to make the love story clear, otherwise it will be「Rashomon」again.

MS Paint's Exercise

Sketch by C.T.Chiang

Microsoft Paint is a simple tool for drawing, but it's hard to use mouse to make a picutre. I saw a film on star movie channel last night, the movie named "Turn Left Turn Right ", it decribes the subtle linkage between two lovers, they are looking for each other in many scenes, but the one always pass by the other by accident. Luckily, with faith, they finally find each other in the end of movie. The movie is full of romantic affections for the people who identifies with the two lovers in the story.

Like Wislawa Szymborska's poem-"Love at First Sight" , which repeatly cited in the movie.
[They're both convinced that a sudden passion joined them.
Such certainty is beautiful,
but uncertainty is more beautiful still. ]

The movie just shows the one of the possible denouements, it rarely happen in the real world, like the Disneyland in our childhood, it propose the lost angle of our hearts. In my opinion, I think we like a gambler in our feeling, we will intend to insist on whom you want, if we afford to lose who we are given. Otherwise, we will make a compromise between them, and we will choose the one we like more than the others around us. If we make a compromise, what is love or being love should't matter anything in our life, because we have left from the Las Vegas of our feeling already.

Life in Taipei

Night in Taipei City

Taipei is a beautiful city in Taiwan, especially at the nights.
There are many knids of life styles displaying in the night city. People who intend to be drunken go to the saloon or night club, energetic people choose to go to the dancing club for stretching their body and try to find a mate, people who like me choose to find a good restaurant to have dinner with friends, or go to the Eslite Bookstore to nourish self's spirit, and other people who go to Warner Village to see the movies, who go to night fair to eat chinese traditional appetizes, who go to Mountain Yangmingshan to have a cup of chinese tea and have a sightseeing of Taipei at night, who go shoppig among department stores and brand stores,... , Taipei city almost porvide everything for people who live or work here, Taipei city is full of vitality.

Taipei is never rest, it's open 24 hrs like 7-11 in Taiwan. There are convenience stores open at the street corner, and supermarkets at districts. We also can go to KTV, shoping mall, restaurants whenever we want to, and find a specific place to go. My friend told me that he will rent a small room for sleeping only in Taipei, because he can go to 7-11 for fast foods, go to Wellcome for cold drink and snacks, go to Hangten and G2000 for clothes, go to theater for entertainment, go to anyplace by mass transit system, and find a coffee shop to receive his guests, he never need the kitchen and a living room. I think maybe he won't need a shower room either, because he can to to the swimming poor or the gym and for take a shower after his exercising. ^^

It's easy to be ourself to live in the Taipei city, beacuse no one will pay attention on what you are doing or how you express yourself. Everyone is unique and nothing special as a Taipei resident, like colorful tropical fishes among the coral reef, just to show ourselves and make ourselves happy.

My Friend-Wander , man with optimism.

My Friend: Wander

Wander is a nice guy as I know, he treat people with sincere. every time I met him, he always show his sunny smile to me, it make me feel warm in my heart. He cultivate his friends and learn from them, he share what he know without concealing any knack, he try to be a selfless man as he can. As we live in the world, there are lots of kind of people with their own interest, Wander had fallen into some of his friend's trap, and to be misconstrued by his friends. He was frustrated by repeated failure, yet he always look at the bright side of emotional entanglements, intensifies the belief of goodness and discards what is evil. I am lucky to be his friend, he make me toward to improve my internal personality, not asking external stakeholders to change theirselves, the way of easing myslef and looking ahead for the future.

"Bye, Bye to the yesterday." saying by Wander, the admonition was inspired by the "Let it be", the song sang by The Beatles. She alway brings PiPi along as her family, wherever she goes. PiPi is curiuos about everything she saw, since she was protected considerately. I had taken my friend and PiPi to the university I attended once, there is a big green grass in the middle of the campus. I let PiPi step on the green grass, the young girl seemed to be a little hesitant to the new environment, and smelt the grass with her tiny and sweat noise. For a minutes, PiPi finally waverd her white and downy buttocks walking and jumping on the grass.

The voice of PiPi's barking is very delicate, It sounds like she is try to have your attention to faddle her. If you touch her abdomen, PiPi will lie on the sofa with her legs stretching, she enjoy the loving caress.

I take the photo of PiPi as the icon of my MSN messenger, and it alway catchs the attention of my friends at the first time. Just for squabbling, I think why not we say "It's happen!" instead of "What's happen?", it sounds like more active and more expectably to what will happen in the near future.

I had taken a course of "System Simulation" at colleage, it provides a mechanism to set up a virtual world to imitate the real situation of cases/systems we want to know, we could gather the detailed information concerning the problem happen in the cases/system by running the specific software programs. We can intend to make a different allocation of resources, and watch what will happen in the cases/systems. Finally, we can make a choice of resources allocation to acquire a better performance of the cases/systems. It remind me that we can predict what will happen, if we grasp the key input factors and the operating pattern of cases/systems, the goal of "It's happen!" won't be faraway.

Win or Lose

We all care about the survival of ourselves and make efforts to be the champion in any contest, since Darwin advocated the theory of evolution. Maybe it's nature of human being, but Darwin theory consolidates the tendncy to compete for one's own future. Luckily, if we want to win, we should cooperate with another person to expel another opponent alliance, it's also made by human nature. Therefore, we won't be alone in the world.

When we talk aout the contests in our life, we always take the award as the symbol of champion. We expect the job promotion, the raise of salary and bonus, and acceptance of our argument in our daily life, we hope the such things will secure our position against invaders. Truely, it's the superficiality we could own and show off. I think that a man with deep thought won't agree with us and our behavior, because the award we acquire isn't the whole of our daily life. For example, if you get married, you have a quarrel with your mate, and your opinion dominate the conclusion. I suppose your mate won't be happy to face it, you hurt your relationship between you and your mate. If it happen regularly, yes, you win the victory, but you will lose your marriage.

I have a friend, named Skywalker, his authority isn't accepted by his fellow. One day, his fellow had thrown down the gauntlet infront of him, because of his correcting the bungle matters made by the fellow. It's a difficult thing for Skywalker to admit of such a instance, but he never use the power of management to discipline him. Latterly Skywalker is on the initiative in his department to appeal to top manager for helping the fellow to handle his mother's funeral. It's a abnormal thing for people to understand. Skywalker told me that he just do the right things on his position, and he won't be the one he despise before. As my opinion, I think that Skywalker's fellow won't be informed that he had done for his mother's funeral. The reason why Skywalker to help his fellow is that he want to win his own heart, and being the decent person. It's far beyond from the thought of "WIN or LOSE".

So, I think that
1.To win the contest and acquire the award is easy to be stimulated, and encourage people to join the contest, but it's hard to win the heart of your contender. Maybe you are the champion in the contest, but you initiate many people to against you.
2.How to cooperate with your competitor is the key to win the contest and the way to secure your position, not the smashing of your competitor.
3.To help your opposition party won't be the source of falure of your career, it's the way to win yourself, both superficiality and the essence.

To Be, or not to Be.

The moment of truth is existing at the mement we try to make a choice, while we face to our beating heart for being ourselves or not. We get used to be ourselves and act like the way we always to do, it's not so easy to change our behavior pattern to be the strange one our ego never know. The sun comes up in the east, ans so there is nothing exception for we always trapped into the scotoma according our own wishful thinking.

The one I know before, when someone asked him to correct the mistake he made in public, he always went purple with rage, even threaten his fellow/supervisor to give up the task he was assigned. It caused his fellow to avoid to say the facts to him, and he never knew what the weakness and inappropriate things he superinduced. I think he is look like a adult, but he is a child in mental maturity, he is innocent, not sophisticated. As a worker, I think we won't be willing to be treated as a child in the office.

We never know how to avoid the stupid things reaptly happen in our life, but what we could do is try to understand the context of accident as clearly as possible. If we could find the scotoma of ourselves, then we could hold the directions of drive without disturbing by our impetuous heart, and we could never angry at our fellow for causing troubles on the cooperation.

"To be, or not to be", the aphorism will guide us to face the heart of ourselves. What the superego we formulate, what the achievement we will attain.

Net Friend - the friend you make on the net

Being a member of Yahoo! As my personal experience, I think the virtual space should be the extention of real world. If you are a excellent person with nice-looking, you will find your soulmate both in the real world and on the net. If you are not good enough, even poor, on your external conditions, you still can't find your mate, even if you are on the net, unless you cheat your net friends. It is a slogan from an advertisement in Taiwan, but deeply impressed in my heart. Like construction of building, the design map prescribe the altitude and appearance of the building, and the people who in charge with the process of construction will affect the schedule and the quality of the construction.

If you are the leader of a project team, the definition of project scope and the staff arrangement is the key to attain higher achievement. If you are the member of the team, your reception to the task-related things will influence the accomplishment of tasks. How to align the values between the leader and the member will be the key successful factor for the project. Most of the leaders will hope his colleagues make effort toward to the acomplishment of tasks, in the contrast, most of the member will hope his supervisor identify himself/herself with him. The upper level care about the performance, and the lower level care about the identification. Everything will be ok, if resources are aboundant. Otherwise, how to make a balance between the performance and identification test the trust between the leader and the member.

To be a effective leader is not a difficult thing, only if he stress his member enough and he will get what he want. But being a good member isn't a easy thing, we shoud held back our negative feeling and try to make thing work. As a team member like us, we could choose to drift downstream or making a way upstream, since God give us the free will. I think God and the project leader will watch what we will to be.

Professor L's thoery

Professor L is a famous man for his practice of institutional economy in agriculture sector. He always say that the knowledge of electronical engineering is his tactical weapean to implement his concept, and economic expertise make him a industry policy maker. He is very proud of his achievement to design a public bidding system for vegetables trading between wholesalers and farmers, the budding system creat billions of volume of transaction regarding as farmer's welfare.

Like the majority of professors I met before, Professor L always applies the thoery to his daily activities, and enjoy the indisputable rule of the theory. It's also a beautful thing for Porfessor L to turn the concept to the facts. Not like the business man, they alway try to carry out something they desire to, and accumulate his experiences to form a principle. Because they can't catch the theme of floating facts.

Sometimes, I am wondering how can we make a choice , or make a decision, without any rule to lead us? more pity is lack of any criteria to measure the different result. So most of us often ruch to a action, or a conclusion according personal preference without understanding the situation we stand. It's lucy for Professor L to apply the theory as his compass to navigate the world.

MS K's life show

MS K is a legend in her company, being a strange girl, she is very talkative under the illusion that her job position is unsecure. Talk about her job here, she was assigned to be a project team leader several years ago. She is very ambitious for her career, she try very hard to catch every moment to contact with high mgt team. If you happen to see her behavior to interact with senior officer, you will surprised at the intimacy she show to the officer. Maybe you could say that is female advantage, it is acceptable that female flirt with male in our society, but not allow the male do the same things.

As a Chinese, people is easy to believe the the god or ghost could occupy human body to recount its consciousness, and so her colleague always think the body of MS K must be very suitable for those spirits to stay, while she often make statement about affairs, private secret or public accident related to the project team , by imitate senior officer or some stakeholder. Furthermore, she could creat what she want to say by pretending to quote the keyman's argument. It's the way she acquire her authority, and she is admired by those people who lack of information and those who never as her fellow workers.

In a flamboyant world, "Whether it is the truth or not" is not important for things going on, MS K is a follower of this maxim. "What is important is how to make up a story make the things look like a reality", it's the guildline for her behavior. MS K will be a good craftsman, if she want to copy an artistic production, she will make the copy more like the real one. This is the reason why she always keep herslef bright and decent-like.

At this information age, people's life is filled with the materials of information, information come and go, not to mention the daily works of people. There is an excellence embeded in MS K's body, she could master the information to contribute to her job's accomplishment. Like a magician, she can creat lots of original information, but not real information from facts, from her black hat, maybe should say "black brain". she also can analyze, integrate and package the information, and do a resplendent presentation. Her colleages were deep impressed to her show, while she interview with clients, and so with senior officers.

According the secret one's statement, he say that he is curious to the key successful factors of MS K's achievement, he can't understand why everybody looklike a blindman and ignore the manipulation? As for me, I also can't find what is the truth of the story. Maybe the whole thing is a fraud, only conscientious people will take serious for the justice and goodness. Maybe Ms K only a clown, she make everyone feel happy, happy to realize their thought by way of her disguising imperfection. Maybe Ms K just show her talent for drama, she eager to be a protagonist at her show.

Sometimes, there is a voice around my mind, " Maybe we shoudn't ask God why the story happen? Just ask our heart, listen to the herat, and do what you need to do".

The Reporter's view on reporter

My friend was a reporter before. She attended a seminar last week, the speaker is a chief writer for a magazine, he analyze the technology trend with his personal view .

My friend, being a ex-reporter, talk about the content of speech and the speaker's intention on the seminar, and point out:
1. The reporter hardly has a deep insight on any topic, because he is not from the industry domain.
2. His job is focus on providing the snapshot of a event for the reader.
3. He won't have much time to analyze the issue he was responsible for, the request on a broader view is more urgent than deepen the implication .
4. He is a information distributor, not a knowlede creator or experience owner, he write down what he heared from others.
5. The project team members could be divide into two working style groups, one is doing job for the goal of job being done as soon as possible, the other group is try to make the job well done till the deadline. Therefore, the lazy one always laugh at the earnest one, they always say that the most stupid man is those who try to make the things better.

Sometimes, Mr. X will face the dilemma between the maxmizing the customer satisfaction and minimizing the inequality job allocation among team members. If he want to maxmize the customer satisfaction, then he will assign the earnest one to accept the whole tasks and allow the lazy one to take a long break without doing anything. If he want to minimize the inequility among team members, then he will take the risk of low quality of outcome. Therefore, Mr. X is always asking the earnest one to recorrect the outcome for his previous assignment to the other one, and it makes the earnest one feel tired and grumbling.

It's naturally for Mr. X to try to figure out a way to manage the project team to change the unbalance of job loading between two groups. Originally he introduce a job review meeting to check the working stutus report of each members weekly, and He start to command the lazy one to do his job via e-mail every morning. Like a wise man say, "Good nature leads better behaviors, and so as Devil never become God.". The action to monitor every single thing of single member causes Mr. X's heavy workload, as a result, he would not to do any longterm planning of the project.

As time went by, Mr. X made up his mind to recruit new team members to improve the performance of the team finally, and he would be able to do the planning job and being the coordinator of deferent tasks. Here came two new member, they were assigned to support the earnest group. Unfortunetly, "Misfortune never come alone." , Idleness and talentless like a virus, they can infect anyone without any signal. Even break through the fence make by the earnest group, make the members of the group feel exhaust and sick. " If they can survive in the team without doing anything, why should we do the whole tasks for the self-esteem" , the words revolve around and around the mind of earnest people .......

My friend told me the story, I was wondering why the member of the lazy group could not do the things better and make the coustomer satisfied?! Of course, there are serveral ways to solve the problem mention above, especially on the textbook of business management, even lay off these lazy people. I just want to say here is:
1. Find the right man to do the right thing is the basis of success for a project.
2. If job like a game, every worker will be a happy boy.

The Auther: C.T.Chiang

The Auther: Cheng-Ta Chiang

An almost 40 years old man, CT has been laughed at doing nothing with thinking of being a great man and creating some wonderful ideas.
